How it works

How it works

We’re an independent referral site. We connect Northeast Ohio homeowners with a local water treatment provider, who comes out and tests your water for free.

Free In-Home Water Test

Tap to call and book your free in-home water test.

Three steps

  1. Call the number on this site. Tell us your town and what you’re noticing, such as stains, smell, scale or a softener problem.
  2. The provider tests your water at home. You’ll set up a time with a local water treatment provider. The test is free.
  3. You review the results. The provider explains what they found and may recommend equipment and give you a quote. What you do next is up to you.

Who we are, and who we aren’t

North Coast Water Check is an independent referral service. We connect homeowners with a local water treatment provider, and that provider performs all testing, sales, installation and service. We don’t sell or install equipment, we may be paid for referrals, and we aren’t affiliated with any city, water utility or government agency.

  • We don’t test water, sell equipment or do installations ourselves
  • The provider is a separate business that sets its own prices and terms
  • The cost ranges here are general estimates from published guides, not quotes
  • Town pages are general information, drawn from public reports where cited

What the test does and doesn’t do

The free in-home test typically checks hardness, iron, pH, total dissolved solids, chlorine. Those readings help explain stains, smell and scale, and they help size equipment.

It’s not a laboratory test, and it can’t tell you whether water meets drinking water standards. We don’t make any claims about the health or safety of any city’s water. For that, read your utility’s annual water quality report. If you’re on a well, contact your county health department or a certified lab, and see our well water testing guide.

Frequently asked questions

Who runs this site?

North Coast Water Check. We’re an independent referral service, not a water treatment company.

How do you make money?

We may be paid by the local provider for referrals. That doesn’t change what you pay for the test, which is free.

Is the provider’s work your responsibility?

The provider is a separate business and handles its own testing, pricing, installation, warranties and service. Ask about licensing, insurance and warranty terms before you agree to any work.

Do I have to buy anything?

No. The provider may make a recommendation and offer a quote. It’s your choice whether to go ahead.
